Add to that the sustainability credentials that timber as a building material offers and it’s obvious why the trend to use timber in construction beyond our traditional residential buildings is gaining real traction. Recently CLT Toolbox launched engineering software to revolutionize the structural design process for mass timber buildings, developed in response to research from the supply chain and structural engineers. CLT Toolbox automates the complex structural design computations, making it easier and more cost-effective for engineers to design and build with sustainable materials.

CLT Toolbox integrates both member and connection design and incorporates some of Simpson Strong-Tie’s global range of timber construction products for engineers to design with. The software tool is specifically designed to offer a transparent and collaborative approach and not be a ‘black box’. It provides additional didactic information to educate younger professionals or specifiers new to timber design and takes into account local supply chain availability. Simpson Strong-Tie is pleased to support CLT Toolbox’s efforts to date and looks forward to continuing development of the software and educating not just our local specifiers but expanding CLT Toolbox and Simpson Strong-Tie’s innovative product range globally.
